WHY JOIN WFP?
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Sudan is experiencing unprecedented levels of food insecurity largely attributed to the now protracted conflict, with over half the population—25.6 million people—in need of assistance. WFP is scaling up its emergency operations to respond to the crisis despite enormous challenges due to access limitations, insecurity, reduced resources and a rapidly evolving conflict. As of May 2026, WFP has reached over 4M beneficiaries with food assistance, of whom 1.2M received their assistance through cash-based transfers (CBTs). By December 2026, WFP aims to reach over 2,3M through CBTs. This scale of increase is largely made possible by generous donations and grants from WFP’s partners.
Job purpose
With plans to implement CBTs at scale from June to December 2026 given the expected increase in CBT funding during the said period, this position is crucial to ensure CBT resources and grants are well managed, followed up and optimally utilized and accounted for.
